In Short: Kansas LLC Information Report
Kansas no longer has a yearly LLC annual report. Since January 1, 2024, every Kansas LLC and every foreign LLC registered in Kansas files an Information Report with the Secretary of State every two years, due April 15.
- Who files: every Kansas LLC and every foreign LLC registered in Kansas.
- Due date: April 15 of each even year for LLCs formed in an even year, and of each odd year for LLCs formed in an odd year.
- Fee: $90 online or $110 on paper.
- Late penalty: $85.
- If you never file: the LLC becomes delinquent after April 15 and forfeits three months later. Reinstatement costs $35 plus the $85 penalty plus $110 for each past-due report.
Kansas switched from annual to biennial reporting on January 1, 2024. Guides that describe a yearly annual report with a $55 fee are out of date. The current filing is the Information Report (Form ILC), and its schedule depends on whether the LLC was formed in an even or an odd year.
This guide covers who files, how to find your filing year, the fee, what the report asks for, how to file online, and what delinquency and forfeiture mean.

Who Must File a Kansas LLC Information Report?
Under K.S.A. 17-76,139, every Kansas LLC, every series of a Kansas series LLC and every foreign LLC registered in Kansas files the Information Report. The filing is the same for active, dormant and single-member LLCs. Series LLCs file on paper.
When Is the Kansas Information Report Due?
Kansas uses an even and odd year cycle. An LLC formed in an even year files in each following even year, and an LLC formed in an odd year files in each following odd year. Existing businesses follow the year their formation documents were first filed, and a foreign LLC follows the year it applied to do business in Kansas.
The report is due by April 15 of the filing year. An LLC formed in June 2026 files its first Information Report by April 15, 2028, then by April 15, 2030.
Calendar-year filers can file from January 1. The Secretary of State does not accept extensions of time to file.
How Much Does the Kansas Information Report Cost?
The Information Report costs $90 online or $110 on paper, per the current Form ILC. The total combines the $80 statutory fee with the Secretary of State’s regulatory fees, which were updated on February 27, 2026. The same fee applies to domestic and foreign LLCs.
Because each report covers two years, keeping a Kansas LLC current costs $45 a year when filed online.
What Information Does the Kansas Information Report Ask For?
Form ILC asks for:
- The business ID number and the LLC’s full legal name.
- The principal office, as a physical address rather than a P.O. box.
- The reporting year.
- For a Kansas LLC, the name and address of each member owning 5% or more of the capital.
- The signature of an authorized person, made under penalty of perjury.
The member list applies to Kansas LLCs only. A foreign LLC does not list its members.
How to File the Kansas Information Report: Step by Step
- Confirm your filing year. Check whether the LLC was formed, or registered in Kansas, in an even or an odd year.
- Look up the business ID. Find the LLC in the Secretary of State’s business entity search.
- Open online filing. Sign in to the Secretary of State’s online filing system between January 1 and April 15 of your filing year.
- Complete the report. Enter the principal office and, for a Kansas LLC, each member with 5% or more of the capital.
- Pay $90. Pay online and save the confirmation.
Paper filers mail Form ILC with a check or card payment to the Kansas Secretary of State, Docking State Office Building, 915 SW Harrison Street, Topeka, KS 66612. The Secretary of State does not accept a faxed report unless it accompanies another filing.
What Happens If You Miss the Kansas Deadline?
An LLC that misses April 15 becomes delinquent. According to the Secretary of State’s information report page, it can still file the report during a three-month delinquency period, but it is limited in what other documents it can file. A late report carries an $85 penalty.
If the report is still missing when the three months end, the LLC forfeits its articles of organization, or a foreign LLC forfeits its authority to do business in Kansas. A forfeited business cannot file any other document with the Secretary of State until it files its past-due reports and is reinstated.
Reinstating a forfeited Kansas LLC
A forfeited LLC files a Certificate of Reinstatement (Form RL) with every past-due Information Report, going back no more than 10 years. The cost is a $35 filing fee, the $85 penalty and $110 for each report: $230 for one missed report and $340 for two. Form RL is filed by mail. Kansas sets no general deadline to reinstate, reinstatement is retroactive, and an LLC whose name has been taken in the meantime must choose a new one. The reinstatement page has the form.
Kansas Tips for Non-Resident Owners
Record your filing year the day the LLC is formed: even or odd decides every deadline after that. File online, which costs $20 less than paper. Watch the three-month delinquency window, since forfeiture follows once it closes.
Keep Your Kansas LLC in Good Standing
Filing the Kansas Information Report by April 15 of your filing year is what keeps your LLC in good standing with the Secretary of State. Banks, payment processors and new partners ask for proof of that status, and the document that shows it is a Kansas certificate of good standing. Most missed filings trace back to one problem: the state’s reminder went to an old address. A registered agent service that scans and forwards state mail closes that gap. If a deadline has already passed, our guide on what happens when you miss an annual report deadline walks through the fix, and our LLC annual report guide for every state covers the rules in other states where you are registered.
